“Deadliest Catch” Captains Support Florida Seafood
Three of television’s famous fisherman joined up to support Florida’s fishing traditions and working waterfronts. Captain Sig Hansen of the fishing vessel Northwestern and Captains Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand of the fishing vessel Time Bandit will star in three public service announcements for Florida’s Working Waterfronts. The commercials will start appearing on statewide television tomorrow- so keep your eye s peeled!
The Bureau would like to express our appreciation to the Captains for their involvement and support of the Florida Seafood industry. Their status as internationally known fishing captains will help raise public awareness of the important contributions Florida fisherman make to our state and nation.
The PSA’s are part of a public awareness campaign promoting Florida’s seafood industry and the Working Waterfronts Program that is dedicated to preserving Florida’s fishing heritage.
A new website: WorkingWaterfronts.com has just been launched to spotlight the rich commercial fishing heritage of Florida’s working waterfront communities. WorkingWaterfronts.com will detail the historical development of the commercial fishing industry, promote tourism to the areas, and spotlight the fishermen who bring home “Florida’s Tastiest Catch.” Florida’s hardworking, dedicated fishermen will talk about fishing traditions and even tell some tall fish tales.
So the message is the same from the “old salts” down in Florida and the crabbers on the Bering Sea—support local and domestic seafood!

It’s not so much about marketing the Captains, it’s more about promoting their passion for their livelihood. Whether I’m in JerZey or FLA, the fishermen who help me make a hellacious meal for my friends are thought of with my highest regards. Catch On!
