Get the Dye Out

If you are a food label reader like I am, this bit of news might have caught your attention. Maryland is proposing legislation to ban certain artifical food colorings which have been linked to behavioral and hyperactivity problems in children. Maryland would be the first state to do this although many European countries have banned several of these additives for years.

I am happy to see more research into these additives. But I have always believed when feeding kids, less is more. Fewer processed foods make for healthier kids. Make them a meal from scratch (or sorta from scratch) instead of one loaded with preservatives. Feeding a kid somthing fresh and green instead of something with Green 3 or Blue 1 out of box or can just has to be a no brainer.

Good for them! When are they going to stop putting all this horrible stuff in our food? The most beautiful colors in the world are natural!
