A New Chip

As usual, I am late to the party.  Green bean chips.  Vacuum frying.  sounds pretty healthy and I think in the realm of snack foods it is.  I discovered these beans at the food store over the week-end and had to give them a try.  At first I thought, only in the south would we take a perfectly healthy vegetable and fry it.  Then I tasted it and decided it was baked.  Brought the snack to the office and shared.  Opinions varied; fried, baked, dehydrated.  When all else fails, look it up.  There it was, vacuum frying.  Less fat and lightly salted, no trans fat, no cholesterol, 130 calories per 28 gram serving, which is about an oz. (about the size of a bag of chips from the vending machine)

While this may not replace my love for all things potato I may have a good alternative snacking and parents of older kids might want think about  offering this as a snack.

    i bought some okra chips made the same way.. they make a pretty good snack!

    That was a good piece about someone who will remain nameless feeding ice cream to an 11 month old–granparents do tend to cheat a little which is why we are called GRAND!
