Redland Raised in Stores Now

On Thursday, October 29, I hopped in the car and drove down to Miami for a press conference at the Tropicaire Publix.  Along with Miami Mayor Carlos Alvarez and County Commissioner Katy Sorenson, I was among the 50+ folks who celebrated the unveiling of the new Redland Raised logo.

What an event it was!  With farmers, Publix staff members and consumers in attendance, it was so great to see that Florida produce is in stores and that people will identify the items as grown in the Redland/Homestead area.

About two years ago,  Miami-Dade Agriculture Manager Charles LaPradd approached the Department about creating the Redland Raised logo, a spinoff of the Fresh from Florida logo.  Jennifer, our graphics designer who worked on this, completely and totally rocks!  She received input from the Redland committee and came up with the logo that is now going to be in all Publix stores when produce from the region is in stock.

It was fun to visit with Florida producers and FAPC members who are also friends.  The work that Charles did with Publix in getting the deal is very much appreciated.  We also appreciate the county recognizing the importance of Florida agriculture.

In order for producers to be able to use the Redland Raised logo, they must be a member of FAPC, and of course the product must be grown in the Redland area.  Be on the lookout for Redland Raised products wherever you shop, and let us know when you see them!

    This is great news — recognizing that consumers really do care about what they eat and where it comes from. We’ll be looking for that logo!

      Thanks, Gretchen! The logo was prominently featured in circulars this past week to go along with the availability in stores. We appreciate your support of Florida products.

    I was so happy to learn of this last week. I am a resident of the Redland and thought it wasteful that so much of the produce the local stores stock was imported from elsewhere. It’s nice to see Publix listening and acting upon the consumer’s input. Great job on that logo. Love it!
