Spotlight on: Morris’s Market

January 15, 2010

The Daily City, a blog all about life in the Orlando area and local events, recently began a new project called “ Helps.”  This project takes a local business that is not doing so well financially and tries to promote it.  Their first feature is on Morris’s Market, a fresh produce shop in Lake Mary that is unfortunately struggling to stay afloat.  After seeing what a great store this is, I just had to write something on here to share it with our readers!

This cute shop is basically a farmers market that is open all week.  As TheDailyCity put it, “Forget waiting until Saturday or Sunday to buy your local peppers: they’ve got them every day.” While farmers markets are awesome, most of them are only open certain times of the week.  With Morris’s Market, you can stop on your way home from work to get everything you need for dinner that night. Check out this video that filmed of the inside of the store. It looks super cute and fresh!

Another perk of Morris’s Market: Around 80% of the fresh produce, grass-fed beef, eggs and bread are grown/made right there in Central Florida.  In fact, the people that own the store  have their own farm, where a lot of the food for the store comes from.  How cool is that?

If you live in the area and have never visited Morris’s Market, tomorrow (January 16, 2010) would be the perfect time to stop by. They are hosting a chili cookoff/all you can eat chili day. It is $15 to enter the cookoff (top 3 win prizes) and $5 to stuff your face with chili. Plus you can pick up some fresh goods for a yummy Sunday lunch.

If you can’t make it by the store, you can still find them at a few other places – they are at Lake Eola Farmers Market, Lake Mary Farmers Market and will soon be at Waterford Lakes Farmers Market.

I am a Vendor that sells Jewerly at the Lake Mary Farmers Market. And I just want to say that every Saturday while I am working I find it a must to go to the Morris Market Booth and buy all my Fruits and Vegetables. I find the prices to be very good and the product is always good. I will continue to shop with this Market rather thqn go to the Grocery Store.
