The Many Sides of the Avocado
Buying produce that is in season helps you get the most nutrients out of what you are eating. If you are like me this is important to you. While I do enjoy eating fresh foods, it helps to know it is fortified with things that my body needs in order to be its best.
Avocados are in season here in Florida and with over 20 essential nutrients the health benefits avocados are a must for any diet. Avocados are also low in calories, fat, and sodium making them a total winning package for any consumer. Photochemical are found in avocados, and these molecules have been linked to cancer prevention. What more could you ask for? Well, there is definitely more benefits to this fruit.
The Dr. OZ Show mentioned avocados helped stop graying of the hair. New Zealand markets the avocado as an anti-aging remedy specifically related to macular degeneration. Many researchers now recognize that avocado’s monounsaturated fat speeds up the basal metabolic rate. Its high fat content gives a quicker feeling of fullness which helps to reduce overeating.
With all this information I definitely want to eat more avocados, but my favorite point about avocados is they taste wonderful. This fruit can spice up any salad or be used as condiment instead of sour cream (which can be heavy in saturated fats). Also, avocados are pleasing to look at on any dish. The pleasant green color is as appetizing as it is good for you. For consumers, like me this little marvel is a must have for health and nutrition.
