New Year’s Resolution – More Meals at Home

I love cookbooks.  I love to read them, look at the pictures, see emerging and traditional techniques, and just enjoy the creativity of others.  However, with a busy schedule I find myself eating out so much that I miss cooking.  Can anyone else relate?

One of my New Year’s resolutions will be to cook more, to use those cookbooks that I love and play with my food.  A great way to start is by using Chef Justin’s “The Florida Chef Flavorful Seasons” cookbook, which is full of delicious recipes and wine pairings and is conveniently available online.  The way it is divided seasonally accentuates what is fresh from Florida on a quarterly basis.

The “Winter Warmers” section includes Pecan Egg Nog, Curried Florida Squash Bisque, Snowy Broccoli and Cauliflower Bake, Provencal Roasted Florida Tomatoes, Homemade Beef Stew, Sunshine Sweet Potatoes, and Florida Strawberry Tiramisu.  I happen to like all of the ingredients in these recipes, but if I didn’t, I could substitute things I do like.

That’s my resolution…to cook more at home using fresh ingredients and cut out some processed stuff.  Who’s with me?
